Digby Wells Environmental (Digby Wells) is the brand under which the services of the group of companies are marketed. Digby Wells and Associates (Pty) Ltd was formed in January 1995 by three partners – Digby Wells, Ken van Rooyen and Graham Trusler – all three previously from the Environmental Management Department of Rand Mines. The company is named after the late Mr Digby Wells, who made a significant and lasting contribution to the environmental management field in South Africa. Digby passed away in 1996. Graham Trusler is the current Chief Executive Officer of Digby Wells, who ensures the company remains inspired by the mission of being the preferred partner offering environmental and social services to the resources industry with a focus on Africa. .

The company enjoys a staff complement of committed, highly trained, specialised and skilled employees, most of whom are shareholders – a structure that enables the business to remain truly employee-owned, as well as ensuring the staff take an active interest in delivering quality services.

Digby Wells is committed to and aligned with the Codes of Good Practice and South African Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) with respect to economic transformation.

Lwazi Capital, a black women owned and managed company, as well as Digby Wells shareholding employees hold 30% ownership of the issued share capital of the Digby Wells Environmental Group. This mutually beneficial relationship ensures that Digby Wells is in full compliance with South African legislation applicable to the Company and its clients.

Digby Wells has, as part of the company’s goal to increase the Ownership and Management Control of the Company to Historically Disadvantaged South African’s, developed an extensive BBBEE strategy ensuring that the company continues to plays a successful role in transforming the South African economy.

The company is busy establishing a presence in various countries on the African continent through various subsidiaries and joint ventures.
