Digby Wells Environmental is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard McDonald as Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 June 2026.
Richard currently serves as Chief Financial Officer, a role he has held since April 2019. His appointment follows an extensive internal succession process and reflects the Board’s confidence in his deep understanding of the business, his leadership capabilities and his commitment to the values that define Digby Wells.
Over the past seven years, Richard has been a central part of the firm’s leadership, partnering closely with the CEO and Board through a period of significant growth – including a doubling of headcount and increased shareholder returns. He brings more than 20 years’ experience in finance, governance and operational leadership across Africa and is well placed to lead the business into its next phase.
After many years of dedicated service, Graham Trusler will step down from the Chief Executive role at the end of May 2026. Graham will remain actively involved with the business as a non-executive director and in a part-time technical advisory capacity, ensuring continuity of institutional knowledge and strategic guidance. The Board extends its sincere gratitude to Graham for his leadership and his substantial contribution to the development of the firm.
This transition reflects Digby Wells Environmental’s ongoing commitment to strong governance, thoughtful succession planning and long-term sustainability. There will be no change to our commitment to our staff, clients and partners.
We look forward to the next chapter under Richard’s leadership.
